Lela Mae Kuhn Fields, born September 21, 1932, passed peacefully October 14, 2017. She is predeceased by her son, Gary Lee Albert, and husband Charlie F. Fields. She is survived by her daughter, Sherrie R., cousin Mary G., sisters-in-law Catherine B. (Valley Mills) and Dora B. (Austin).

Lela was retired from her position as the Grand Secretary-Treasurer of the Order of the Sons of Hermann in the State of Texas, the first woman to hold that position in the history of the company. She was Past Matron of Bexar Chapter #616, Order of the Eastern Star and current member of Seguin Chapter #555. While her daughter was involved, Lela served as Mother Advisor to the Seguin Assembly of the Order of the Rainbow for Girls. After her retirement, Lela worked tirelessly as a volunteer for the American Cancer Society, driving patients to treatments and coordinating other drivers.

Very much a "people person", Lela enjoyed bowling, dancing and traveling, and anything where she could laugh and have a good time.

Lela Fields will lie in state for her friends on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 7735 Gibbs Sprawl Rd., San Antonio, TX 78239. Her family is respecting her wishes for no service and private burial.
