The Star-Mirror, Moscow, Idaho, October 25, 1917: "Mary Lila Smith, wife of Charles E. Smith of Moscow, died at the family home Friday night of heart failure. Funeral services were held at the home, 503 South Jefferson street, Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock with Rev. H.O. Perry, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church, officiating. Mrs. Smith was born in Missouri in 1871 and at the time of her death was 45 years, 10 months and 25 days old. She had lived in Moscow with her family for the past eight years. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Reams, are living at Sprague, Washington. Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband and seven children, two boys and five girls."
NOTE: Mrs. Smith was actually survived by 5 sons and 2 daughters.
