J. John Jackson was born at Holly Bush Hall a few miles due West of Cheslyn Hay, Staffordshire, England on 22 April 1833. He died on 14 May 1910. He was the son of Joseph Jackson b. 1788 near Holly Bush Hall and Sarah Cartwright b. 1801 in Wolverhampton, England. John had four brothers: Edmund, Steven, David and Joseph. He had two sisters, Lucy Marie and Sarah. John immigrated to the USA in 1851 and followed railroading, riverboating ultimately enlisting in the Union Army in 1864. He married Bridget Murphy (nee Mahon) in 1865 in Arcola, IL and brought children to NM in 1879-80 where one more child (Alice) arrived.
