He was a son of George Martin Schick and Johanna Bleiel. He is buried in the German Cemetery (Trinity Lutheran) in the family plot. .

Mr. Christian L. Schick, who was stricken with paralysis on Tuesday afternoon died yesterday shortly before noon, at his residence, 31 North Ninth Street. Mr. Schick was 64 years old the day he was stricken with paralysis. He was born in Wittenburg (sic), Germany, and came to America in 1847. He was employed for some time after his arrival in Reading at the P. & R. shops and later at Felix's brewery. Later he engaged in the botttling business with John H. Fett, under the firm name of Schick & Fett, until three years ago, when he retired. Mr. Schick was a member of Common Council for two terms. He was also a member of St. John's German Lutheran church, Reading Encampment, I.O.O.F., Harmonic Mennerchor and the Cannstatter Verein. He leaves a widow and seven children.

Christian L. Schick, died April 3 at his residence, 31 North 9th, from the effects of a stroke of paralysis sustained on Tuesday, his 64th birthday anniversary. He never rallied and passed away peacefully.
Mr. Schick was born in Wittenberg (sic) Germany, and came to this country in 1847. He was employed at the P. & R. shops and later at Felix's brewery. Deceased formed a partnership with John H. Fett and they were engaged in the bottling business quite extensively for a number of years. He retired from business 3 years ago. Mr. Schick was a member of Common Council for 2 terms and was a well-known citizen. He was a member of St. John's German Lutheran church, Reading encampment, I.O.O.F. German Order of Barugari, Harmonic Maennerchor and Cannstatter Verein. A widow and 7 children of a family of 12 children survive, Mrs. Caroline Hertwig, Mrs. John Kaufman, Misses Mary, Emma and Maggie, Henry W. and William J. Schick, of this city. A brother and 2 sisters who survive, reside in Germany.
