Mildred M. Kaiser, 90, most recently of Susquehanna, went to be with her Savior and Lord on Tuesday Jan. 11, 2011, at Barnes Kasson Hospital after an illness.

Mildred was born in New York City.

She served in the Women's Army Corps during World War II and worked as a school bus driver in New Jersey before moving to Northeast Pennsylvania in the 1980s.

She served her Lord in many ways here locally including at several churches, becoming a deacon, adult Sunday school teacher and lovingly fulfilling many other responsibilities at the Lanesboro Community Church and assisting in the communion services of the Tri-Boro Ministerium at Barnes Kasson Skilled Nursing Facility as well as leading Bible studies there and being a loving Christian friend to so many of its residents and staff.

She was a member of the American Legion Post #86 where she served as chaplain for many years, worked as a foster grandparent in the New Milford Head Start Program and used her love and skill in working with dolls to make and repair them for many girls of all ages.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Sarah Morris.

Mildred is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Robert and Ellen Kaiser of Ohio; grandchildren: Angela Kaiser of California, Robert Kaiser Jr. of Nevada, and Thomas Kaiser of North Carolina; five great grandchildren; and a niece Bonnie Raab of New Jersey; as well as her "grandchildren" at New Milford Head Start, her church family and many other loved ones whose lives were touched by the Lord through her.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 22, at the Lanesboro Community Church at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Carl Batzel officiating.

Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Lanesboro Community Church, 801 Jackson Ave., Susquehanna, PA 18847.
