Luther Bilbrey

Luther Bilbrey, 88, Anderson, died Jan. 6, 2012, at his residence, after an extended illness.

He was born Feb. 6, 1923, in rural (Overton County) Brotherton, Tenn., the sixth of 10 children born to Fletcher B. and Lula (Walker) Bilbrey.

He came to Indiana as a teenager and spent the rest of his life here.

Luther served his country in the European Theater of War during World War II, also the occupation of Germany.
He retired from self-employment in construction. He enjoyed many years being part of Pathways Class at Park Place Church of God.

Survivors include his wife, Iris Bilbrey; three sons, Wayne Decker Bilbrey, Kevin Luther (Pamela Jan) Bilbrey and Karyl Leslie "Percy" Bilbrey; grandchildren, Carroll Wayne Bilbrey and wife, Patricia Jean Kovach; brother, William Shaw; and their mother, Kimberly Shaw; other grandchildren are Tara Stoner and her three children and Jason (Jessica) Fenwick and their three children; sister, Ethel Blaylock of Elwood; brothers, Roy (Nadine) Bilbrey of Cookville, Tenn., and Clarence (Cola Dean) Bilbrey of Smithville, Tenn.

Luther was preceded in death by his daughter, Helen Jostah Johnson; parents; and siblings, Edna Short, Thurman, Clyde, Haskel, Dewey and Fred Bilbrey. Cremation has been chosen.
