Mattie Juanell Hazlewood, 93, formerly of Ellendale, TN peacefully passed away March 27, 2021 at St. Francis Hospital, Bartlett, TN. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ollie and Mattie Keith of Milan, TN; her husband of nearly 68 years, James Thomas Hazlewood; and two siblings, Robert Keith and Elizabeth Daniels, both of Milan, TN. She is survived by her beloved family, son, Keith (Kathy) Hazlewood, Arlington, TN; two grandchildren, Jason (Carrie) Hazlewood, Bartlett, TN and Jana (Ronnie) Billings, Munford, TN; and three great grandchildren, Mattie Ruth Hazlewood, Ellie Kate Billings and Bayleigh Grace Billings.
Juanell was born Dec. 9, 1927 in Milan, TN where she lived and attended Milan schools graduating Salutatorian of her class. Upon marrying James, March 9, 1947, she moved to Gibson, TN where she was a faithful member of Gibson United Methodist Church and a dedicated employee of The Bank of Gibson for many years.
In 2002 she and James moved to Ellendale, TN, leaving behind their beloved farm and many dear and special friends, to be close to their son and his family. There she became a faithful member of Ellendale United Methodist Church developing many new friendships.
Juanell was devoted to her husband helping him in his garden especially with his prize tomatoes. Most of all she enjoyed cooking delicious country meals for her family and friends.
During Juanell's last few years she received excellent concerned and caring professional attention from the management and staff of NHC Healthcare, Somerville. To these individuals along with her many friends and fellow church members whose visits, cards, calls and prayers meant so much we, her family, sincerely thank you.
Services will be Friday, March 31, 2021 at 1 pm at Bodkin Funeral Home, Milan, TN with visitation from 11:30-1:00, followed by burial at White Rose Cemetery, Gibson, Tn.
