Deborah Carolyn Acklin-Finley, 59, of Decatur passed away Saturday, March 27, 2021 in St. Mary’s Hospital, Decatur. She was born September 13, 1961 in Decatur, daughter of Julius & Sherry (Horrer) Dennis. Deborah married Aaron Finley on July 13, 1990 at the Scoville Zoo Gazebo and he survives in Decatur.
Deborah was a graduate of Mt. Zion High School and was a homemaker. She enjoyed painting dolls, crafting, drawing & cooking. Deborah was the protector of her family and being a mom was her whole life. She attended ever event she could for her kids & grandkids and she never missed an opportunity to hold a baby in her arms.
In addition to her husband, Deborah is survived by her mother, Sherry Dennis, Moweaqua, IL; children: Shannon (Janice) Acklin, Decatur, IL; Amber (John) Drummond, Hammond, IL; Rachel (Richard) Marks, Mt. Zion, IL; Sam Finley, Hammond, IL: Rose Finley, Mt. Zion, IL; Jesse Finley, Decatur, IL; Andrew Finley, Decatur, IL; Benjamin Finley, Decatur, IL; Aidan Finley, Decatur, IL; stepson, Jacob Finley, Maine; 12 grandchildren and siblings: Matthew Dennis, Chicago, IL; Michael (Amanda) Dennis, Katy, TX; Donna (Tom) Sanders, Pana, IL; Peggy Dennis, Stonington, IL. She was preceded in death by her father on January 5, 2021; daughter, Misty Acklin in infancy; stepson, Jordan Finley; grandson, Deimos Acklin.
Graveside services for Deborah will be held on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 in Point Pleasant Cemetery, Long Creek, IL at 10:00 a.m. with John Hammond officiating.
