William Erwin went home to be with his heavenly Father on March 29, 2021 after complications from a stroke. He was born on July 20, 1934 in Erwin, Tennessee. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Joyce Martin Erwin and 4 surviving children; son Jeff and wife Denise of Pelion, SC and daughters, Ann Lewis of Columbia, SC, Connie Erwin of West Columbia, SC, Pam Carter of Lexington, SC and predeceased daughter, Vicki White of Lexington, SC.

He is also survived of his 3 grandsons; Arthur Lee Davis, Jr. of Ocala, FL, Joshua White and wife Amanda of Anderson, SC, Matthew Hellman and wife Lindsay of Elgin, SC and 3 granddaughters; Christina and husband Chris of Ladson, SC, Jessica Erwin of West Columbia, SC, Samantha Diggs and husband Zecirus of Elgin, SC and Gabby Browning of Lexington, SC.

Also, 6 great grandchildren; Bella Davis, Ari Davis, Ryan Hellman, Solomon White, Wylie White, and Zoey Hellman.

William is predeceased by his parents, Edgar Woodward Erwin and Ruby Gwendolyn Adkins and brother; Larry Erwin, sisters; Geri Wilson and Linda Maupin all of Erwin, Tennessee and sister Mary Jane Furches of Wichita, KS.

William and his family moved to Columbia in 1972 when he accepted employment with Hardaway Concrete Company.

William was a member of Saluda River Baptist Church and a former member of Northside Baptist Church where he was a dedicated follower of Christ and lived to serve him daily.

William and Joyce enjoyed leading Sunday church services at Agape Nursing Home for 16 years where they were richly blessed by the Lord.

William enjoyed teaching Sunday school, fishing, watching the Atlanta Braves, holidays, family gatherings and playing family games. His first love was the Lord and his second love was his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather and will be missed by many.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Family Life Center at Saluda River Baptist Church, 3459 Sunset Boulevard, West Columbia, SC 29169.
