Charles Edward McElwee, 73, 725 S. 14th Street, Gadsden, died Tuesday at the residence following an extended illness.
Funeral service were to be today at 3 p.m. at Crestwood Funeral Home chapel with burial in Crestwood cemetery.
Survivors are wife, Mrs. Thelma McElwee, Gadsden; daughters, Maureen Tolbert, Birmingham and Ann Griffith, Centre; sisters, Mrs. E.F. Sisson and Mrs. H.C. Howell, both of Gadsden and Mrs. L.B. Bell, Huntsville; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. McElwee was a native of Cherokee County and a resident of Etowah County most of his life. He was a self-employed tire regroover for 25 years, a veteran of World War II and a member of the East Gadsden Church of God.
