Myra Kay Schaffner, of Dixon, was born on July 29, 1954, at Waynesville, a daughter of Willard Melvin and Mercedes (Irwin) Simpson and departed this life at 8:49 p.m., Saturday, March 27, 2021 in the University of Missouri Hospital, Columbia. Myra had been in failing health and had attained the age of 66 years, 7 months and 26 days.   

            Myra was united in marriage on June 10, 1983 to James Robert Schaffner. He preceded his wife in death on March 21, 2020. In addition to her husband, Myra was preceded in death by her father, Willard Simpson on October 30, 1994; her brother Danny Simpson on October 3, 2013 and two sisters, Alice Simpson on March 22, 2000 and infant Janice Simpson on August 15, 1955.

            Myra was baptized early in life while attending Sheppard Baptist Church, near Dixon and at the time of her passing was a member of the Pisgah Baptist Church. Myra worked for Brown Shoe Company in Dixon until it closed in 1992. She then worked at Country Mart for a short time until going to work at Delano where she worked until retiring. She enjoyed crocheting, fishing, gardening and bowling.

            Those left to mourn the passing of Myra include: her mother, Mercedes Simpson, Dixon; her children, Jason Schaffner and his wife, Sue Ann and Melinda Kay O'Neal, all of Dixon; three grandchildren, Jerica (Austin) Keeth; John Robert Schaffner and Shaddix Wyman; one great-grandson, Kenneth Keeth; numerous nephews and nieces and great-nephews and great-nieces and many other relatives and friends.

            Visitation from 12 until 1:00 p.m., service time all on Thursday, April 1, 2021 in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon with Bro. Charles Bassett officiating.

            Interment in the West Fairview Cemetery near Dixon under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon. Pallbearers for Myra are Austin Keeth, Daniel Simpson, John Robert Schaffner, Ralph Irwin, Vince Rivera and Mike Shupe. Honorary pallbearers are Shaddix Wyman and Kenny Keeth.
