Our loving husband, father, and grandfather, Zane Grey Callahan, age 83, passed away Friday, March 26, 2021 in Oklahoma City. Zane was born May 29, 1937 in Hobart, Oklahoma to Albert and Ruby (Chennault) Callahan. Having grown up on a farm, hard work was learned and expected. He also learned to have fun and enjoyed riding horses. He attended and graduated from Hobart High School, where he played football. He then attended Junior College in Altus where he received his Associate's Degree in Computer Science. He married his high school girlfriend and they had two children, Sheila and Larry. After they divorced, he focused on work and their children. Zane was a master of all trades: a carpenter, plumber, heat and air technician, and contractor, just to name a few. In 1987, he was set up on a blind date with LouAnn, and it was love at first sight. They were married a few months later on January 15, 1988 and enjoyed 33 loving years together. Zane and LouAnn enjoyed travelling and were members of the Oklahoma Hitchhikers Club for 25 years. He also enjoyed going to the casino, cooking, and eating good food. He loved his family and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was greatly loved and will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Clarence Callahan. He is survived by his wife, LouAnn Callahan; children, Sheila and Robi Owen, Larry and Sally Callahan; step-children, Sheila Renee and Joel Pierce, Lonnie Higginbottom, and Walter Higginbottom; grandchildren, Jeremy Callahan, Allison and Jason Callahan, Ramy Pierce, and Aaron Owen; great grandchildren, Alexia, Levi, and Everly Callahan; as well as other family members and friends. Services will be 2pm Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at Bill Merritt Funeral Service with interment to follow at Mustang Cemetery.
