Burial was at St Paul's Cemetery, Eunice, Louisiana on Thursday, March 25th, 2021. The ceremony was completed by a Deacon from St Anthony of Padua in Eunice. She was interred next to her parents as were her wishes.

Honaker Funeral Home, Slidell, LA was in charge of funeral arrangements and transportation from Slidell to Eunice, LA (and they were excellent). Ardoin Marble Works in Eunice is working on the marker stone.

Rita was teacher for forty-three years, thirty-seven of which she spent as a first grade teacher at Florida Avenue Elementary School in Slidell, Louisiana. She also worked at Mervyn's store at the mall in Slidell from the day they opened until the day they closed.
Mom was a parishioner of St. Margaret Mary Church for over 45 years. In her last few years, she attended daily mass.
Rita is survived by two children, Michael Andre Japp (Cherie) and Margaret Michelle Ivey; seven grandchildren, Thomas Japp, Sherry Japp, Christopher Sharp, Ashley Johnson (Alexander), Sean Ivey, Jason Ivey, and Alexis Ivey and one great-grandchild, Makyleigh Johnson.
