On December 30, 1875, Jacob married Melissa Teas. They had one daughter, Ann. Melissa met an untimely death in 1878. Jacob married a second time to Mary Sherman. They married in Wapello County on January 19, 1882. They became parents of three children, Charles, Nellie and John.
