Son of Clark C & Medea (Stevens) Camp

Asa and his father came west in 1849 for the gold rush to California. They were present during the 1850 census. Asa remained in CA and homesteaded in Placerville, CA.

On 5 Nov 1867, Asa married Laura E Oldfield, the widow of his brother, Luke Camp. Asa remained a gold miner until his death in 1902.

Death of Asa S. Camp
Asa Stephen Camp died at hlc home
at Reservoir Hill lost Tuesday. Dec. 2,
1902, from pneumonia, after an Illness
of about ten days. He was a native of
Pennsylvania, and had reached the age
of 73 years. Mr. Camp was an Industrious man, of quiet and unassuming
disposition, a good neighbor and steadfast friend. He crossed the plains to
California In 1850, coming to El Dorado
county in the fall of that year, and for
fifty-two years has made It his home,
where he followed mining and ranching
with varying success. In 1867 he was
married to Miss Laura Oldflield, who
survives him, with their five children:
Mrs. A. W. Daniels, Alfred S. Camp,
Mrs. Bert Carpender. Mrs. Llllie Zelsz
and Miss Flora Camp, to mourn his loss.
The funeral was held at the family
residence on Wednesday, Rev. C. C.
Pierce officiating. The interment was
in the Methodist cemetery.
