An expanded obituary appeared in THE COFFEYVILLE WEEKLY JOURNAL (Coffeyville, Kansas), March 4, 1910, p. 2:
"Miss Nettie E. Anderson died at the family home, 9 East Fourth street, Friday morning at 8:10 o'clock. She had been in failing health for more than a year, suffering from tuberculosis.
The deceased was one of the best known young ladies of the city, and her demise has cast a cloud of gloom over a large circle of friends. She was born in Valparaiso, Indiana, 22 years ago and came here with her parents five years later. She was educated in the public schools of this city, graduating from high school and then graduated from the University of Kansas at Lawrence.
After her graduation from the university, Miss Anderson taught one term in the schools of this city and then went to Georgia, teaching in a seminary there one year. She then acquired a business training and was employed as a bookkeeper by the Holbrook Supply Co. and the North Star Manufacturing Co., before going to Carlsbad, New Mexico a year or two ago. There she obtained a position as a stenographer for a law firm, giving it up to return home about three months ago when the dread disease had fastened upon her, telling her that she had best come home to the care of loved ones.
Until her illness, the deceased was a very active member of the Baptist church, and her membership is now with the church in Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Miss Anderson is survived by her father, M. N. Anderson, and five sisters and one brother. All but one sister, Mrs. Ada Appleby, of Cherryvale, live here. All were present at the time of her death.
Funeral services will be held from the home Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev. T. J. Hopkins, pastor of the First Baptist church. Interment will be made in the family lot at Elmwood cemetery."
