Elbert Newton, 68, block layer, of Route 2, Caneyville, passed away April 25, 1981 at the local hospital. / He was born January 29, 1913 in Grayson County the son of Willie Newton and Lula Hack and was married to Ida Borden Newton, Route 2, Caneyville, who survives and was a WW II veteran. / Survivors other than his widow include six daughters, Barbara Hansel Columbus, Ohio, Patsy Cox and Peggy Newton both of Danville, Ill., Wanda Horton and Nancy Newton both of Leitchfield, Sandy Decker, Route 2, Caneyville, four sons, Glenn, Elbert, Jr., both of Leitchfield, John David Newton, N. Edwards, Calif., and Charles Ray Newton, Taylorsville, Ky., two brothers, Emmett Newton, Leitchfield and Rev. Ezra Newton, Louisville, 28 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. / Services were held April 28, 1981 at South Union Baptist Church by Rev. Wilbur Oller with burial in South Union Cemetery under the direction of Arch l. Heady-Ellis Funeral Home, Leitchfield.
