James Darrell Kelly, 86, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 23, 2021. Darrell was born in Jacksonville, Florida and a 1952 graduate of Andrew Jackson High School. Following graduation, he began his career in banking with Barnett Bank, Florida National Bank, Alliance Bank and ultimately retired after several years with Ever Bank. Until his health declined more than a year ago, he was an active member of North Jacksonville Baptist Church, serving as Head Usher. Darrell was a humble man and loved the Lord and his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Jimmy & Ida Kelly; sister, Millie Feinberg and his wife of 24 years, Elaine Kelly. Surviving family include 4 children: Dale (Peggy) Kelly, Kevin Kelly, Melissa Kelly and Tanya Kelly; 1 brother: Art & Linda Kelly; 6 grandchildren: Roland, Kendra, Jessie, Hunter, Lindsey (Luke) Goss and Amber; 1 great grandchild: Elias; several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 29, 2021 at North Jacksonville Baptist Church with Rev. Chris A. Coram, officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. His family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Monday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to North Jacksonville Baptist Church Building Fund.
