Bennie Bartosh

Bennie Bartosh, 87, of Granger passed away March 1, 2016, at Granger Villa surrounded by his family.

Bennie was born in Granger March 8, 1928, to Edmund and Maria Dubil Bartosh. He served three years in the United States Army Air Corps at the end of WWII.

On Aug. 27, 1950, he married the love of his life, Gloria Mae Pasemann. They head one daughter, Melissa Graham.

Together Bennie and Gloria built a successful life in Granger. They lived on the family farm until 1970, when they built a home in Granger, only because their daughter insisted that she live in town.

Bennie was a lifetime farmer and rancher. In 1973, the Little River/San Gabriel Soil Conservation and Water District named him Outstanding Conservation Farmer.

A civic-minded man, Bennie was a member of the Granger Lions Club, Knights of Columbus, KJT, SPJST and the Granger Fire Department.

For 20 years, he served as board member and past president of the Granger ISD Board of Trustees.

A highlight for him was awarding his daughter Melissa her diploma in 1972.

An astute businessman, his business ventures included Director of Bluebonnet Nursing Home, now Granger Villa. He remarked that when he helped to build business, he didn’t realize he would spend his final days there.

He was a stockholder and board member of Granger National Bank for 30 years, former owner and vice president of Fredericksburg Industries for 15 years and owner/president of Granger Grain for 20 years.

He was a fierce domino player, an avid fisherman, a lifelong hunter and a good friend to all.

He and Gloria enjoyed dancing in their earlier days and traveling with friends throughout the United States.

Bennie is predeceased by his parents, five brothers, Edward (Shorty) Bartosh, Roman Bartosh, Jerry Bartosh, Max Bartosh and Henry Bartosh; and four sisters, Lilian Cervenka, Anita Bartosh, Eleanor Lenertz and Georgia Blaskee.

Bennie is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Gloria of Granger; his daughter Melissa and husband Robert Graham of Round Rock; granddaughters Chista Pfluger and husband Adam of Taylor, and Candace Gaida; and great grandson Dwayne Gaida of Granger.

He is also survived by one brother, Walter Bartosh of Taylor; two sisters, Odie Hamilton of Austin and Margie Pustejovsky of Taft; and many loving nieces, nephews and their extended families.

Visitation will be held Thursday, March 3, from 6 to 7 p.m. with Rosary at 7 p.m. at Condra Funeral Home in Taylor.

Celebration of life mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 4, at St. Cyril and Methodius Parish Hall with Rev. Hilario Guajardo.

Pallbearers will be Dwayne Gaida, Jim Pustejovsky, Colton Mazoch, Joseph Bartosh, Clay Mazoch, Walter Bartosh, Bruce Thaler, Gary Hamilton, Don Bartosh and Dennis Bartosh.

Serving as honorary pallbearers are his hunting, fishing, domino and coffee buddies.

Memorials can be made to SS Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, PO Box 608, Granger, Texas, 76530 or the American Cancer Society.

Bennie’s family would like to give a special thanks to the staff and adminstration at Granger Villa and Resolutions Hospice for taking great care of Bennie during his final months.
