Living in Smyrna, Cobb County, Georgia, Audrey was 68 years old and married when he died on April 4, 1974 at home.
Survivors included his wife Rachel, daughter Jeanne (Whitley) Shoup and her husband Jack Shoup of Smyrna, Georgia, stepson Arthur Townes and his wife Bobby of Hermitage, Tennessee, brothers Kenneth Ray Whitley, Willie Altman Whitley and Bernice Eugene Whitley of Nashville, Tennessee, fifteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
His body was removed by Winkenhofer-McCurdy Funeral Home in Smyrna, Georgia to Woodlawn Funeral Home in Nashville, Tennessee. Funeral Services were held at Woodlawn's Chapel of Roses on April 8th, followed with burial in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Nashville.
