POPULAR OFFICER DIES IN HOSPITAL--
John J. Flynn, 70, retired city police officer and worker in city fund drives every year since 1932, died Wednesday morning at Wesley Hospital of a cerebral hemorrhage. Flynn, longtime downtown traffic officer, had been retired little more than a year. Last year was the first since 1932 that he had not taken part in some campaign.

Born in Youngstown, Ohio, Flynn worked as a engineer on the US Steel Co. railroad and on the Pennsylvania Railroad before moving to Oklahoma City in 1920. He worked here several years as a salesman before joining the police force in 1924. Flynn was a member of the Catholic Church and the Elks Lodge. Services will be 10 am Friday in the Guardian Funeral chapel. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Mildred, of the home, 2008 N. Eastern; a daughter, Mrs B. R. Harrington and a grandson, Charles Harrington, both of 320 NW 13.
