William N. Leeser, 54 of 223 North Second street, Sunbury a retired Pennsylvania State Policeman, died Friday in Sunbury Hospital following a lingering illness.
Well known in this area, he at one time served at the State Police barracks in Frackville.
A native of Sunbury, he was born March 20, 1913, a son of the late James and Anna Duffy Leeser. He lived in Sunbury most of his life and was a graduate of Sunbury High School, class of 1931.
He was married in 1939 to the former M. Jane Dorsey and his death ends a marital union of 27 years. He was a former State Police sergeant and retired in 1966 after 28 years of service. His health condition forced him into retirement.
During his career as a police officer he served in many areas and was officer in charge at the Selinsgrove and Milton State Police stations. He also served in Montoursville and Lykens for some time. While at Montoursville, he was in charge of the area driver examination points for some years.
He is survived by his wife and a daughter, Mary Beth at home; a son, William N. Leeser, Jr., Sunbury and a daughter, Carol, wife of John Cassidy, Springfield; one grandson, Mark Cassidy and two brothers, James W. Leeser, Selinsgrove and Sherman E. Leeser, Sunbury. Mr. Leeser was a member of St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church. Sunbury; the Rescue Hose Company; Fraternal Order of Police and the State Police Civic Association.
