MEDFORD -
Marie E. Abernathy, 90, died at 2:15 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Nursing Home of Taylor County, where she had resided for the past six years.
There will be no funeral services and burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Stetsonville.
Hemer Funeral Home, Medford, is in charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation.
She was born April 5, 1896, at Switzerland, to Casper and Mary Stuessy. At the age of 4, she came to the United States with her parents, and settled in the state of New York. They moved to Broadhead, where they farmed for a number of years, before moving to Milwaukee. In 1941, they moved to Long Beach, Calif., where she worked at the Navy Supply Depot. She was married to Arthur Abernathy Oct. 19, 1942, at Los Angeles. He died April 27, 1951. She moved to Medford in 1955, where she worked as a housekeeper.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Medford.
Surviving are nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was predeceased by a stepson, Cecil Abernathy, a brother, Casper Stuessy, and a sister, Elsie Stuessy.
