U.E. Loyalist
Enlisted: 15 Aug. 1777
First Battalion
K.R.R.N.Y.
Rank: Corporal
Service details: Daly's Company 1777 and 1778; Cpl. Joe Andrew's Company 1781 and 1782; Arch McDonnell's Company 31 Dec. 1782.
Domicile/Trade: Tryon, Stone Arabia, New York/Tailor.
Married to Alida Vrooman Hare, widow of Henry Hare U.E. Loyalist, who was unfortunately hanged as a spy by the rebels 21 June 1779.
Corporal Adam Empey petitioned the governor (Haldimand) in April of 1784 for permission to "trade dry goods and liquor from this place (Montreal) to Cataraqui or to Niagara where opportunities will serve to dispose of it for the benefit of his large and distressed family." However, with the pressing matters of relocating the thousands of Loyalists and their families at that time, I don't know if Adam's request was ever granted.
