Selena Leana Brown was born on August 30, 1885, in Pope County, Arkansas, the only child of William Henry and Margaret E. "Maggie" Brown. She married Charles Edward Ewing and they had eight children together. She then married George Washington McDow and they had one child together, in 1927. She died on November 23, 1957, in Marlow, Oklahoma, at the age of 72, and was buried in Loco, Oklahoma.
