Alice was a graduate of Ashland High School, Ashland, IL. Following high school she began working for Illinois Bell and eventually began working for the State of Illinois Department of Natural Resources. She was a member of the Atterberry Baptist Church, Atterberry, IL., and was a member of the choir. She loved to go to church, sing and also go shopping.
Alice married James Carlile at Rock Creek Presbyterian Church on June 12, 1958 in Tallula,IL. He prcededed her in death, as did her parents and a son, Robert Carlile.
Alice is survived by three children, James “Mikey” Carlile of Springfield, Melinda (husband Charles) Lane of Springfield and Lori (significant other Jim Nimmo) Kemp of Tallula; nine grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and two sisters, Mary Teal of Tennessee and Lorretta Cave of Kentucky.
A private family viewing will be held at Hurley Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held immediately following with Pastor J.D. McWhorter officiating at Rock Creek Cemetery, Tallula, Illinois. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and the Alzheimer’s Association.
Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg, Illinois, is assisting the family with final arrangements.
