James Edward Smolkovic, 69, of Hamburg, NY passed away peacefully on Friday, December 18, 2020, following a long illness. Jim grew up in the Village of Hamburg, attending Hamburg schools K-12 and was a 1969 graduate of HHS. Majoring in marketing in college, his future was viewed as bright and promising. He earned a BS degree from Canisius College. During college, he was a member of America’s oldest business fraternity Alpha Kappa Psi – Delta Tau chapter. After college, he continued his employment with Marine Midland Bank until serious illness befell him. He never fully recovered from this. A man of few words, he was a private man. He did not demand or complain. Jim’s character was one of acceptance, faith, kindness, sincerity and loyalty. So, in life Jim was loved deeply by his family and well regarded by all who knew him.
