Maria Louisa ("Louise") Cheatham was married on 17 Jun 1847 in Nashville, Tennessee (Ref: Davidson County Marriages, 1838-'64) to Dr John L. Chapman, born ca1809 in Virginia, died 26 Jun 1858. (See respondent's declaration on the U.S. Census of 1850 for Washington county.) It is very well established that he was a planter at "Glen Allen," his property on Lake Washington in Washington county, Mississippi, thirty miles south of Greenville.
