Uncle Bud's home was about half a mile from my childhood home, far from the madding crowds. The house was torn down in the 1980's. Many people said it was haunted. I visited other people who lived in the house and always thought there was an "other world air," to it. Nothing sinister.
In front of the house, next to the dirt road, there was a lovely tree that stayed green year round. I believe it was a very old juniper because it had the identical berries. As children we were allowed to cut some of the stems for Christmas wreaths. The fragrance filled the air when cut. A plum tree grew beside the juniper. Long after Uncle Bud had passed, the plum tree still produced fruit. As children, my siblings and I stopped frequently and ate the plums or took them home.
My Dad and Mother were given a a large, wooden framed mirror that belonged to him.
