ELAINE BARBARA LaJOIE
Elaine B. LaJoie, 73, of Cass City died peacefully in her home January 3, 2019. She was born February 19, 1945 in Pontiac, one of the first twin children of Alvin "Tom" and Blanche (Goniwicha) Houghton.
Elaine attended Kingston schools and earned an Associate's Degree of Nursing Science from Delta College in 1977. She worked at various hospitals, home care agencies and briefly as a substitute school nurse for Cass City School until retiring in 2013. Elaine served on the Tuscola County Health Board and was a member of the Red Hat Society. She loved spending time with her family and playing cards with her sisters and aunts. Elaine was skilled in sewing and mending. She enjoyed volunteering and assisting teachers at the Cass City Elementary School.
Elaine is survived by her two sons: Eric (Kristen Sanderson) LaJoie of Sandusky; Brian (Teri Botoroff) LaJoie of Lapeer; two grandsons: Patrick LaJoie of Lapeer; Eric LaJoie of Lapeer; granddaughter, Macy Renae LaJoie of Sandusky; brothers: her twin brother, Gerald (Betty Jo Schwind) Houghton of San Benito, TX; Marvin (Vicky) Houghton of Fayetteville, NC; Donald Houghton of Essexville; Daniel (Sandra) Houghton of Campbellsville, KY; Harold (Patricia) Houghton of Charles Town, WV; John (Tracey) Houghton of Port Huron; sisters: Jane (Burt) Lester of Kingston; Donna (Curt Adams) Krumenaker of Sebewaing; Mary Lou (John) Burns of Cass City; Christine (Mike) Diegel of Cass City; Winifred (Jeff) Jensen of Cass City; Angela Houghton of Saginaw; Jacqueline Houghton of Caro; Diana (Mike) Campbell of Caro; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by parents; baby granddaughter, Sydney Lynn LaJoie; young brothers: Howard Alvin Houghton, Alan Joseph Houghton; her sons' father, Henry August LaJoie.
Memorial service will be held at a later date in the Summer. Interment will be in Novesta Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Family Discretionary Fund. Family and friends may share memories, prayers and stories with the family at www.kranzfuneralhome.com.
