William is the son of James Alexander Odell and Anna Trogdon.
Married Elizabeth Forester in 1841 at Randolph County, North Carolina.
About 1855 he moved his family to Wayne County, Iowa.
About 1860 the family moved to Randolph County, Missouri, which is 140 miles away from Wayne County, Iowa.
He was probably living in Scott County, Arkansas in 1880.
His wife, Elizabeth died in 1889 and is buried in Kansas.
Late in life he moved to Cleveland County, Oklahoma with some of his adult children.
His death is well documented, but his burial site is unknown, but is probably Lexington Cemetery in Cleveland County, Oklahoma
