Deceased Name: Roger Pierce
Services for Roger Lee Pierce will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Shurlington Baptist Church with burial in Macon Memorial Park. Pierce died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2000. An Army veteran of the Korean War, he was retired from Robins Air Force Base after 34 years and was supervisor of the transportation operations service branch. He was a member of the Federal Managers Association, AARP, Republican Presidential Task Force, National Republican Senatorial Committee, Heritage Foundation and North Highlands Neighborhood Association. He was a member and deacon of Shurlington Baptist Church and the Berean Sunday School Class and was head usher for more than 14 years.
Survivors include his wife, Mattie C. Pierce; children Robin P. Carpenter of Cleveland, Tenn., and Ginger P. Coone of Hillsboro; half-brothers, Rufus Giles of Sandersville and Henry Giles of Dublin; and four grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today in Hart's Mortuary. Memorials may be made to Shurlington Baptist Church Building Fund, 2270 Shurling Drive, Macon 31211.
