Prominent Local Businessman Taken by Death

Death early today claimed Ernest William Luddahl Jr., 68, owner and operator of the Lundahl Iron Works, and one of the city’s prominent business leaders.
He died at the Logan hospital of a heart ailment, following more than a week’s illness. Funeral arrangements are being made by the W. Loyal Hall mortuary, Logan.
Native of Logan
Mr. Lundahl was born March 5, 1882, in Logan, a son of Ernest William and Julia Jensen Lundahl.
He married in Logan LDS Temple in 1922 to Helen E. Montrose. Surviving are his widow, 105 West Second North, Logan; the following sons and daughters: Ernest William Lundahl III, and Raymond E. Lundahl, Idaho Falls; Mrs. Lola Cowlishaw, Deno, Nev.; Richard L. (Dick) Lundahl, Caldwell, Ida.; John L. Lundahl, Mrs. Flora L. Nielsen, and Alice Jean Lundahl, all of Logan, and five grandchildren.
The following brothers and sisters also survive; Alma J Lundahl, Ezra C. Lundahl, and Mrs. Olga Sorensen, all of Logan; Mrs. Emma Harrison, Denver; Mrs. Dagmar Sackett, Omaha, Neb., and Mrs. Florence Acheson, Glendale, California.
Mr. Lundahl began learning the machinist trade with his father when he was 15 years of age. They worked in the railroad machine shops for many years. Then the Lundahl family founded Lundahl Iron Works in Logan.
Wide Service
About 15 years ago, Ern Lundahl purchased the interests in the business of his father and brothers, and had since been owner and operator. The Iron Works is considered of great value to Cache Valley and other parts of northern Utah and southern Idaho, and extends wide service in this territory.
Mr. Lundahl was a charter member of Logan Golf and Country Club, and always had been an active member. With his sons, Dick and Johnny, he had become prominently identified with golfing competition and promotion throughout this territory. The family is recognized for its talent and activity.
A member of Logan chamber of commerce, he was active in civic capacities. Three of his sons have served in the military. The family is affiliated with Logan Sixteenth LDS ward.
