He was born on January 8, 1931 in Galesburg, IL the son of Basil and Helen (Carlson) Zugg. Lyle was united in marriage to Barbara J. Hyler on October 30, 1955. Lyle was a proud veteran of the Air Force, serving 6 years during the Korean War. He was very proud to have had the opportunity to go on an Honor Flight. He was a lifetime member of Shrine, walking in many parades as a clown with his invisible dog and making balloon animals for over 20 years. He was also very involved in the children’s hospitals. Some of Lyle’s life passions were singing in the church choir, dancing especially to polka music, researching geology and traveling to cemeteries to find his relatives. He took a great pride in working in his yard, especially his roses. Lyle was a loving husband and celebrated every anniversary with a gift of long stem red roses. His memberships include: the American Legion Post 26, Quad-City Plus 60 Club, Brubaker Lodge No. 675 and Grand Lodge of Iowa, A.F. & A.M. and past Potentate of the Kaaba Shrine.
Those left to honor his memories include his loving wife of 60 years, Barbara; children: Steve Zugg, FL, Vickie (John) Hagen, IA, Rick Zugg, AZ, Bill Zugg, FL; three grandchildren, four great grandchildren, sister Marilyn (John) VanFleet, Galesburg and three nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
