Joseph W. Richards was born May 2, 1856 in Doddridge Co, WV. He was the youngest child of John "Webster" Richards and Sarah Sherwood Richards.
Joseph married Nancy Elizabeth Brown nicknamed "Pet" in Mason Co, WV on October 27, 1896. He was 40 and she was 25 and they never had any children.
They lived in both Doddridge County and Mason County where Joseph worked as a Merchant selling groceries and dry goods.
Joseph died in New Haven in Mason County on July 26, 1924 at the age 68 and was buried in the Graham Station Cemetery. Nancy stayed in New Haven and died July 31, 1948 in the hospital in Parkersburg, WV at the age of 77.
