A. D. Ruth Passes Away --

A. D. Ruth, Veteran, Watchmaker, and Silversmith of Winchester, died of Paralysis at his home here Wednesday. He had been in failing health for several months and for several days past, the end had been momentarily expected.

Mr. Ruth was born February 12, 1845 and was therefore in his seventy-third year. He was a veteran of the Civil War, having enlisted in Missouri at the beginning of hostilities and served through the entire conflict. He was seriously wounded on two different occasions and was one time left for dead on a field.

In 1967 he was married to Miss Jennie Newton. Of this union, nine children were born, five of whom are now living.

They are George, Moody, Oliver, Lucille, and Ernest. Ernest lives in Selma, Alabama, and the others reside here.

Mr. Ruth began business in Winchester in 1886 and with his passing, the oldest business establishment in Winchester will be closed.

The funeral will be from the residence this morning at 10:00 o'clock and the remains will be carried to Fayetteville at noon for burial.
