Barbara Jane Brooks Ball passed away on March 14, 2021, after a long battle with cancer. Born January 27, 1947, her parents were Laverne Alden and Emma Dell Norman Brooks. The family moved several times but settled in Tuscaloosa, AL where her father was a professor at the University of Alabama. Survivors include husband Charles W. “Bud” Ball, children Keri Ball Durant, Charles Alden Ball (Kelli), Martha Suzanne Ball, her grandchildren Charles Christopher Ball, Cooper Alden Ball, and Aidan Maddox, and her siblings Suzanne Brooks Cooper and Gregory Norman Brooks (Cindy).
A private family graveside service will be held at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing. The family respectfully requests that all attendees wear a mask.
Barbara graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in Accounting and worked for most of her career in accounting at the Tuscaloosa Housing Authority. She had a wide circle of friends and loved traveling with them and with her family all over the United States. She especially loved trips to Disney World and Orange Beach. She thoroughly enjoyed her relationships with members of Tall Pines Golf Club where she helped with myriad social events and “tailgates”. She loved all things University of Alabama, especially football and softball. She also loved family gatherings and was definitely the matriarch of the family. They frequently counted on her for practical advice on any topic.
