Alfred Dibble was mortally wounded on July 3, 1863, during Pickett's Charge on Cemetery Ridge. He died two days later. That fall he was buried in the Gettysburg National Cemetery and a stone was placed later. In the 1970s his body was removed and reinterred in Westbrook, Connecticut in his family plot.
