LINCOLN - Byron "Barney" L. Liesman, 65, of Lincoln, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2007, at Memorial Medical Center.
Private family services will be held. A celebration of life will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 26, 2007, at the American Legion Hall, in Lincoln.
Memorial donations may be made to the Liesman family c/o Holland Barry and Bennett Funeral Home, 620 Pulaski St., Lincoln, IL 62656.
He was born Feb. 6, 1942, in Lincoln, the son of Orville R. and Thema F. Smalley Liesman.
Barney retired from the secretary of state's office, in 2005. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, Cubs baseball, Bears football and NASCAR racing.
He is survived by two daughters, Heidi (Charlie) Clark and Angela (Matt) Taylor; son, Randy (Tiffany) Liesman; two brothers, Orville (Maureen) Liesman and Gary (Kathy) Liesman; four sisters, Margaret (Gary) Lawson, Carol Liesman, Coralee (Mark) Young and Neecy (Steve) Vinyard; four grandsons; four granddaughters and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Liesman was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
