OBITUARY:
Mrs. Mattie Holland Elliott,
beloved wife of A. H. Elliott,
died at the residence of her
husband in Johnson City on
Monday night, in the 39th year
of her age. Mrs. Elliott has
been a great sufferer for the
last seven years from dropsy,
during which time she never
saw a well day.
She was born in Bedford County,
Tennessee, but her father moved
with his family to Texas when she
was but two years old and located
at Sequin, where she lived until
her marriage in 1868.
After living a life of gentleness
...bearance ...
Christian reservation, she died
in a full belief that her sins
were forgiven and the hope of a
blissful immortality.
Died October 12, 1886

Note:
"Martha Holland Elliott has a
headstone at the side of her
husband's grave, but she is
actually buried in an unmarked
grave in country cemetery nearby."
