He was born January 30, 1922, in La Monte, son of Guy Wilbur and Goldie (Shull) Mahin.
On October 19, 1942, in Houston, TX, he married Mary Kathryn (Wade).
Arthur enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He studied to be an airplane mechanic at Fairfax Aviation School.
He was a lifelong farmer. He enjoyed riding horses and was a 4-H leader in horsemanship and beef. He was an avid reader. In recent years, he went to the Sedalia Senior Center to learn about writing and became good at writing stories. He loved to play rummy.
Arthur was a member of La Monte Christian Church, where he taught Sunday School, was Sunday School superintendent, and served as a deacon and elder.
He was a member of the La Monte American Legion Post 520 for 77 years.
Survivors include a son, a daughter; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and a sister.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Mahin; and a sister, Laura McCurdy.
A graveside service and outdoor visitation is planned for Monday, April 5, 2021, to be held at La Monte Cemetery, with Pastor Alan Morse officiating. The graveside service will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by a time of visitation. In the case of inclement weather, the service will be moved to La Monte Christian Church.
Military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Army and VFW Post 2591.
