AUBURN - E. June Kierst, 75, of Bradford Street, Auburn, died Thursday, Oct. 13, 2005, at Seneca Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Fulton, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Clarissa Wright Owens. June graduated from Fulton High School and the former Auburn City School of Nursing. She was a licensed practical nurse at the former Mercy Hospital for several years.
She was an active member of the Trinity United Methodist Church of Auburn, and a member of the Fulton Preservation of Mt. Adnah Cemetery. She was a former member of the Cayuga County Museum and volunteered for the Auburn Chapter Literacy Program. She worked for many years as an election toll inspector, and together with her late husband, Paul, collected antique dolls and accessories, which they shared at museum shows during the holidays. She also enjoyed sewing and painting, but foremost, her family.
Surviving are her children, Maureen Kierst (Bob Coapman) of Genoa, Cindy Pilipczak (Steve) of Seneca Falls, Paulette Yost (Sterling) of Suisun, Calif., and Abby Hewitt (Dana) of Owasco; eight grandchildren, Michael Dec, Carrie Dec DeWolf, Jonathan Leschak, Calen and Rawley Yost, Shawnna, Emily, Abigail Hewitt; a great-granddaughter, Rachael Dec; a sister-in-law, Irene Kierst of Auburn; and by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother; Garr Richard Owens; her mother, Clarissa Ann Owens; her father, Richard "Dick" Owens, a granddaughter, Katherine Kierst Hewitt in 1991; and her husband, Paul J. Kierst in 1995.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the church's memorial fund or to the Neighborhood House in memory of June.
