Raymond was an allied member of John and Betty More's Robert line. He was the son of Albert W. Alexander and Elna N. Alexander. Raymond was raised initially at New Haven, Connecticut where his father was a teamster. The family relocated to Weehawken, New Jersey about 1910 where his father was a retail cutlery salesman. Raymond married to Florence Mariah Underwood on 16 November 1913 at Manhattan, New York. They made their home at Weehawken where her husband was employed by New York Fire Insurance Underwriters. They relocated to Bergenfield, New Jersey about 1920 where he continued his insurance career working up to fire insurance examiner. Raymond and Florence were the parents of three children; Frances Eleanor Alexander, Raymond William Alexander Jr., and Malcolm Underwood Alexander.
