in the 1870 Agricultural Schedules as owner of 175 acres improved land in District 5, Williamson Co.
H. M. "Oglesby" married Thomas Holt 18 Jan 1855. I searched for her with the likely names Hannah,
Harriet or Helen, to no avail. Her listing in the 1870 census would have you believe she was born about1817. [ Thomas Holt Find a Grave MEMORIAL ID 93080524 ]
All of this family of Ogilvies (preferred spelling) migrated from Glanville Co., North Carolina to Williamson
Co., Tennessee circa 1800. They are mostly buried in the Ogilvie cemetery near Eagleville/College Grove.
The will of M. "Oglesby" (Monte), penned Nov. 22, 1919, establishes his mother as H. M. Holt, buried in
Starnes Cemetery, near Ruddersville, Williamson Co., Tennessee. He bequeaths property to Leslie T.
Stevens, who appears with him in the 1910 census. The will is probated in late 1924, with codicil 1925.
The death record for A. M. Oglesby who died 9 March 1923 in Nashville, is clearly that of Monte: gives
DOB as June 4 (in agreement with 1900 census), age 77, buried in Starnes cemetery, Appears he was
single his entire life. (Found in Tennessee Death Records, 1908-1965, at the Tennessee State Library
and Archives)
