Lois E. Gambish (nee: Schibley), 97 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2023 at O'Neill Healthcare in North Ridgeville, following a full and meaningful life.
She was born November 21, 1925 in Amherst, where she was a lifetime resident, graduating from Central High School with the class of 1943.
Lois was employed as a secretary for Nordson Corporation in Amherst for twenty years. She later worked part time at the Amherst Public Library. Lois was a lifetime member of Old Stone Evangelical Church, serving on various committees throughout the years and was also a member of the Sarah Rebekah Circle. She was a fifty year member of the Hickory Tree Grange and also belonged to the Lorain County Pomona Grange, Ohio State Grange and the National Grange. Lois was a member of the SCOA and the Amherst Historical Society. She enjoyed doing crafts, reading, SCOA trips and participating in various grange activities.
Survivors include her nephews, Richard Schibley and Robert Schibley both of Elyria, a great niece, two great nephews, two great-great nephews and three great-great nieces.
She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-three years, Walter John Gambish on December 26, 1999; her brothers, Elton Schibley, Erwin "Bob" Schibley and infant brother Wayne Schibley; her niece Cheryl Kosla; and her parents, Frank and Lena Schibley (nee: Wilker).
Friends may call Friday, August 4, 2023, from 12:00 until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m.at the Hempel Funeral Home, Amherst.. The Rev.
