She had two children while in graduate school at UT Austin, Michele Elise DeBusk and Barrett Conrad DeBusk. While at Northwestern, she had a third child, Marshall Brook DeBusk whose is the family's token “Yankee.”
After moving to Tallahassee Florida, Betty had three more children; Mara Melissa DeBusk (Robert Carr, spouse), Geoffry Clint DeBusk, and Cara Catherine DeBusk (Andrew Bartelt, spouse).
Despite a noted family marital disability, Betty had 18 grandchildren:
