He was a native and lifelong resident of Florida. Mr. Barker was a communications specialist and veteran of the Korean War, and formerly worked for the U.S. Forest Service, the Ocala Police Department, the Florida Highway Patrol and the Florida Game and Fish Commission. He was Christian and was a youth volunteer worker, Sunday school teacher, and a lay bus minister at Central Baptist Church of Ocala, where her pioneered a bus ministry for children.
