Hays -- Barbara A. Sauer, 73, Hays, died Tuesday, Dec. 6, 1994, at Hays Medical Center. Mrs. Sauer was born Barbara A. Dechant on Sept. 12, 1921, at Antonino.

She worked for J.C. Penney's for more than 25 years and at Hays Livestock Commission for more than 25 years. She was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and Daughters of Isabella.

Her husband, William, died Oct. 21, 1994.

Survivors include a son, Ronald J. of Victoria; a brother, Vernon Dechant of Hays; four sisters, Marcella "Sally" Kauffman of Wichita, Lillian Yeager of Farmington, Mo., Philomena Dechant of Hays and Anne Bernbeck of Eudora; and two grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, the Rev. Don Zimmerman officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays. A Daughters of Isabella rosary will be said at 7 p.m. followed by a vigil at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Hays Memorial Chapel.

Memorials may be made to Community Assistance Center, Hays. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the chapel, 20th and Pine, Hays 67601.
