Billie Jean Smith, 95, of Pocahontas passed away Saturday, March 6, 2021 at her home.

She was born March 19, 1925 in Noland to the late Emett and Maude Bates Hufstedler. She was a longtime employee of Brown Shoe Company and a member of WestRidge Church of Christ. Billie made beautiful quilts, loved working in the garden and flower beds, traveling to Alabama and Florida to visit her girls, and traveling with her nieces Becky and Ginger.

Billie was preceded in death by her parents, Emett and Maude Hufstedler; husbands, Charlie Steel and Taft Smith; sister, Maxine Rook; and brothers, Dale, Shirel, Randolph, and Leman Hufstedler.

She is survived by her children, Taftnee (Grigg) Cox of Pocahontas, Phyllis (Don) Stone of Pocahontas, and Janice Shirley of Pocahontas; grandchildren, Billy Dewayne Wade, David (Angela) Wade, Steven (Mindy) Kincade, Mandy (Luke) Snyder, and Matt Cox; great grandchildren, Derek, Heather, and Fallon Wade, Elizabeth McKenzie, Brandon Wade, Krystopher, Korey, and Lucy Kincade, Erika (Zack) Hill, Julie Snyder, and Taylor Snyder; five great-great grandchildren; sister in law, Dora Hufstedler; special friend and sister in law, Betty Hufstedler; longtime friend Connie Manis; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Saturday, March 13, 2021 from 1-2 PM in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home with a funeral service beginning at 2 PM with Gerald Fears officiating. Burial will follow in Hufstedler-Noland Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include: Dewayne Wade, David Wade, Steven Kincade, Korey Kincade, Ginger Hufstedler, and Becky Hufstedler.

Don Stone will serve as an Honorary Pallbearer.
