Of Arlington Heights
Catherine Therese "Terry" Trapp was born in 1925 to Joseph and Gula Margaret (nee Conard) Diffendal, the youngest of seven children. She spent her childhood, met and married the love of her life, and started her family in St. Ignatius parish in Chicago before moving to West Rogers Park. She died peacefully on Sunday, February 28, 2021, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Terry will forever live in the hearts of many.
Terry touched the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She was a devoted, patient and fun-loving mother who loved caring for and spending time with her family. The foundations of her life were her faith, family and friends. Despite many tragic losses and sacrifices, she was always grateful for the many blessings in her life. Whether sharing a simple cup of tea or hosting a family celebration, she loved to entertain her siblings, in-laws and many nieces and nephews.
Terry was always willing to lend a helping hand and inspired others to make a difference. She was an active volunteer at St. Edna's Church in Arlington Heights. In her younger years, her service at St. Ignatius Parish and in other community activities laid the foundation for lifelong friendships. Terry fondly remembered her time as a volunteer with her local Red Cross during World War II.
Terry is survived by her children George Trapp Jr., Peggy (Kenneth) Cunniff, Cathy (Michael) Curran and Juliane (John) Pearson who will greatly miss her, but they are comforted in knowing that she has been reunited with loved ones in eternal life.
Her 12 grandchildren have been blessed to know and be loved by her: Erin (Alex) Childs, Megan (Todd) Church, Katie (Ryan) Ori, Mary Eileen (Christopher) Wells, Luke (fiancée Stephanie Granada) Cunniff, Emily Trapp, Parker Trapp, Mike (fiancée Meghan Janotka) Curran, Mary Cate (fiancé Gerardo Tirado) Curran, George Curran, Thomas Pearson and Nora Pearson.
Terry loved her 13 great-grandchildren: Lily, Conor and Brendan Childs; Rory, Maeve, Patrick and Declan Church; Ava, Leo and Finn Ori; Caroline and Emmett Wells; and newborn Penelope Tirado. She surrounded her home with their artwork and relished her time with them.
"Aunt Terry" is also survived by many nieces and nephews with whom she stayed in touch and were favorite beneficiaries of her "food pushing."
Terry was preceded in death by her adoring husband George J. Trapp, whom she married in 1949 and can now dance with for all eternity to the sounds of their favorite bands. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her six siblings, her infant son Thomas, and her son James and his wife Linda.
Our family is very grateful to the compassionate care Terry received from JourneyCare and the kindness of Kathy Mannard, who faithfully brought Communion and comfort to her every week.
All services and internment have been held.
